Introducing our Newest Committee Member - Mike Dixon, Social Media Officer

Friday 11 September 2020

In our recent AGM I was voted in as the Social Media Officer for the branch, so wanted to take this opportunity to introduce myself. For a number of years I have enjoyed trying different beers and attending various beer festivals, however it was 2 years ago after the Ascot beer festival I decided to join CAMRA. Since then I have had the chance to learn more about beer, appreciating different styles, as well as visiting various interesting pubs and breweries. I was also able to attend the Ascot beer festival again, this time as a volunteer (though unfortunately not this year), and of course got to meet lots of other members of the branch!

As Social Media Officer / Champion I have now taken over running the branch Twitter and Facebook accounts. I'd like to thank Simon Grist and Andy Ross for running these so proficiently until now. My initial plan is to keep up a similar style and level of communication. This will include providing updates from the local branch and committee members, as well as information from CAMRA and selected posts from local pubs and breweries.

Currently of course a number of posts are related to how we are all coping with the ever changing situation, including new rules, opening hours etc. Hopefully over time things will return to some more level of normality at which point I aim to start providing more varied information on our pubs and what they are doing, as well updates on our events and what we have coming up. I also will look at how we can coordinate the information across both platforms a bit more where appropriate.

In the meantime if you have any updates, or see any relevant external posts that you think should be shared with the branch, then feel free to let me know by emailing the Branch Social Media Coordinator
