This truly ancient building, reputedly a 16th Century former coaching inn, has recently reopened after an extensive refit making it a lot more popular locally and with much wider appeal. A new manager started in October 2015. It is now possible to walk all the way around the bar with each ‘area’ identifiable by a different wall pattern and flooring, this having the effect of breaking up a large open area into individual ‘snug’ type spaces. The ‘L’ shaped bar area with bright white wall tiles provides a central focus for the whole pub. Here six handpumps have been installed, with an example of each offering placed by the respective handpump. Food is served all day. The menu is extensive. Sunday roasts are popular. The rear garden has several benches but the children’s play area has yet to be refurbished so is not in use at present. Five TV’s showing Sky Sports and BT Sports (four inside, one outside) have been installed. Board games, a quiz night, poker night and live music at weekends are also planned.
